Barbara Reiter - World War II and JeffCo Public Schools

Barbara Reiter, a Lakewood resident, discusses her family's ties to Jefferson County including her great-grandfather's immigration from Germany to Colorado in 1873 and her grandfather's founding of Wandcrest Park in the early 1920's. Reiter talks about her mother's work testing bullets for the army during World War II at the Federal Center in Lakewood, as well as her father's bowling alley, Lakewood Bowling Lanes. Also discussed: Reiter's work as a teacher in Jefferson County Public Schools including Outdoor Lab at Windy Peak and Mt. Evans, playing in the clay pits near Golden as a child and riding the trolley system around the Denver area.
